I remember the feeling I used to have when trying to target every single person on earth for my business.
Having high numbers for people reached, huge age range, not thinking of a specific audience.
It was really nice, but quickly went downhill.
I learned fast when results didn’t go my way.
I tried everything in my power (sort of) and came to a conclusion: Not everyone is interested in what you sell.
If you're just targeting everyone on earth, you're wasting the majority of your money, and time.
For the average business, not even 1% of the population will be interested in you.
For the other 99%, that’s money down the toilet.
It’s not that no one wants what you have, it’s that only a specific group of people want what you have. Not everyone will.
The worst thing to do is not take the time to understand a market for your business..
Here’s a quick news flash: Every. Single. Business. Has a specific market…..and it’s your job to find them.
But since you're reading this article, I’m going to show you how to exactly find them and form the perfect market.
Problems I See Constantly
Here’s the problem with most marketing: It’s Sloppy.
It’s just chunks of words on a page that shows no purpose, as well as an image that makes no sense.
They talk about themselves and their company, which no one cares about.
They do this and put it out to a market that has no interest in them.
Then they sit there and wonder “Why isn’t this working?”.
I’m here to tell you that with the wrong market, nothing will work.
If you're selling something meant for women, and target men in your marketing, who's going to buy it?
No one.
There are people out there hungry and want to buy what you have BAD.
They're waiting for the perfect time to buy.
Waiting for your ad to pop up to take action and buy.
But guess what, you're in the wrong market.
Being lazy and targeting a random market won’t do anything but waste money and time.
If you sell a service, there are companies out there waiting and praying you’ll come to help them out.
They're hungry for your help and want your service.
Maybe it doesn’t seem like it with the world we live in, but it’s true.
Here’s an example: Let’s say you have a graphic design company.
Do you think a plumber has time to learn and do graphic designs for this company?
Of course not. That’s where you would come in and help.
People do a million things for their company and are dying for some help.
Dying to have someone take time off their shoulder.
Hungry for someone like you.
Maybe your company has some of these problems I described, but now I will tell you exactly how you can find these markets
Finding Hungry Markets 101
Your company has something of value, and people out there will kill for it.
To find these people, we need to think for a second:
What do you offer?
What problems can you solve?
Who would be interested in your company?
You have to think of people who could be dying for your help, that's where the hunger is.
If you can answer these questions and take the time to do some research, you have the perfect market right in front of you.
But we still need to find them.
Once you have an idea of a hungry market, research that market to understand a few things:
Who are they?
Are they on social media?
Are they typically busy?
What's the best way to get in front of them?
Most people these days are on social media or online scrolling. So having a social media presence will always be a good idea.
But research and understand who the hungry market is for your business, then go out there and get them.
The results for your business will skyrocket, and you’ll be thankful you took that extra time.
