With the world we live in and the amount of short form media that is being pushed, it makes it hard to grab the attention of readers, and harder to keep it.
There’s nothing wrong with creating long form content. Most people just make it boring, lengthy, and a solution to sleeping problems.
This article is going to give you the ability to stop bad writing, and have every reader GLUED to your content.
Why Do People Lose Attention?

Just look at this. In what world would anyone want to read this?
Just looking at it gives me a headache.
Since everyone is glued to social media, it shortens their attention span every time they scroll.
As soon as something turns boring or confusing, it’s over… Which makes long form content hard to make.
With this in mind, here are a few tips that’ll have your writing not only grab the attention of your audience, but keep it.
Keep Your Paragraphs Short and Concise
Seeing a paragraph that's a foot long will automatically turn people off. No one wants to read all that.
Since you’ve gotten to this point, you see all my paragraphs in this article are very short. One to three sentences max.
It’s impossible to not read or understand what I’m saying. A ten year old would know what I’m talking about.
Keep them short and simple to read.
Get to The Point
Waffling is a huge killer in writing. It’s when you try to slither around the main point and avoid it.
It leads to long sentences that make no sense, and shows a weakness in the writing.
Don’t avoid the point, just get straight to it. Your writing will sound a hundred times better.
Don’t Be Confusing
Don’t use unheard, ancient history like words. No one will take the time to find a dictionary.
If your sentences make no sense based on word choice, good luck keeping people's attention.
Keeping your writing simple and easy to understand will guarantee more attention.
Incorporate Humor
If you’ve seen recent commercials, ads, articles, everything has a sort of humor.
It’s an incredible, yet simple way to keep a reader's attention.
Keep it simple and relate to what you're writing about. Everyone loves a good laugh
Most Important Part: The Bar Test
The Bar Test is quite simple…Read your writing out loud.
If it sounds like something you’d say in a normal conversation, then it’s on the right track.
If it sounds like AI or Biden doing the talking, you know it needs some work.
Use this test on all your writing and it’ll sound a thousand times better.
Go Out There and Do It
Finally, go out and incorporate all these tips into your writing.
Focus on getting better every time, and you’ll be a completely different writer.
Your audience will grow, and your content will get TONS more attention.
Talk soon,
Michael
