The ability to make eye-catching ads isn’t easy. But by the end of this article, I’m going to show you the secret to having everyone reading your ads.
I think we’ve all had moments when we catch ourselves scrolling through social media. Some videos you watch, some you scroll past.
The videos we end up watching have a beginning that hooks us into watching the rest of it.
The hardest thing these days when making ads is knowing the attention span of people is constantly going down due to the amount of time they scroll on social media.
There's some video they like, the rest they scroll past.
When we’re scrolling through social media, we never think about it that way. We’re too caught up in watching videos and wasting time doing it.
What people do wrong in their ads is they have no hook.
Hook, As In Fishing?
Sadly I’m not referring to fishing when I say hooks, but fishing is a good example.
When you throw your line into the water, what matters is if you have bait on the rod, and if you're in the right place.
If you have no bait and cast it into the water, no fish will go for it because there's nothing tempting them.
But when you put bait on the line, all the fish go for it because it's something they want. It’s the same thing with advertising.
In your ads, you need bait, and the bait is a hook.
People have incredibly short attention spans, and it shows on social media. A hook catches their attention immediately and makes them see the rest of the ad.
Most companies have ads that fail miserably because they have no hook. They have nothing eye-catching to people and it gives them no reason to stop and view the ad.
This could very much so be in the ads you currently run. But don’t worry I’m going to tell you exactly how to fix that.
Obviously everything in ads is important. But the first thing people see or hear when coming across ads is…the headline.
The headline is the most important part. If your headline gives nothing exciting or interesting, that ad is officially dead.
Why Can’t People Just Focus On A Headline?
It’s like a million dollar question. If the headline is bad, the ad will give bad results.
But yet no one focuses on it.
The reason why is because people get too caught up in selling. They put all their focus into making money and revolving their ads around selling.
When they do this, there's nothing hooking the audience into going through their ad.
You can’t make a hook 5 minutes into a video, not even 5 seconds. People will scroll in the matter of seconds, so we need to get their attention BEFORE that.
People aren’t going to stare at a black screen before they see the hook, their attention span is too short for that.
So What Do I Need To Do Next?
The first thing you need to do is forget about everything else when you first make an ad, and put your focus into making a split second hook.
If you want me to be specific, people will scroll within 3 seconds of seeing your ad if it doesn’t interest them.
So we need to get people hooked within 1-2 seconds. It may sound scary and seem like you need wizardry powers to accomplish that, But It’s quite simple.
It doesn't matter if you have a text ad or a video ad, you need an immediate hook.
So what you need to do is make a statement at the very start of that ad. If you're making text ads, you need an eye catching headline, something that states a problem people may have.
If you're making a video ad, you can state a problem, or state something very interesting that will make people interested to watch the rest of it.
So when you're in the makings of creating a new ad, push everything aside and focus ONLY on the very first thing you say. The hook will determine if your ad will be successful or not.
If you create an ad that gets people's attention immediately, it’s safe to say your competition will have no chance against you. If you want me to analyze your ads and help you out, contact me and I will get back to you within 24 hours.
