I’m sure you’ve had the experience of going car shopping and dealing with the annoying sales people.
You go there and there forcing this car and that car, everything down your throat so they can make money. It’s very annoying
Then they try to add packages to the car without telling you, making you spend more money without saying anything about it.
They don’t care about you or what you need, they just want to sell cars so they can get a plaque hung on the wall at the end of each month.
I’ve had experiences like this before and it is out of this world annoying and a terrible way of selling
The moment you start selling like that in any business, you start to have a bad reputation and people don’t come back ever again.
What mistakes do people make?
When you start a business, your focus can’t just be on getting money in any way, shape, or form, you have to worry about resolving people's problems.
Here’s something you need to know. People don’t like being sold too, forcing stuff down their throat makes it even worse.
Yes, you need to sell to make money, but there's levels to it to be at the top.
You could have a product that solves back pain for life, but still mess it up because you're not focused on the audience.
What you need to stop doing is selling based on features and gimmicks.
If you sell an electric back massager, something random, you can’t start talking about “It gets up to 80 degrees”, “It comes with a remote with a lot of fun buttons”. No one cares. It gives no reason to buy because fun buttons won’t solve back pain
It’s like the car salesmen example. They will try to sell you on “It has great speakers, it has heated seats”, “This car has a big, fast engine”. Again, no one cares. People want a car because it takes them from A to B.
Maybe add in there that it’s fuel efficient and saves money each month on gas.
The whole point is that too many people sell the wrong thing.
They sell on the physical features and gimmicks, not the end results and solution to people's problems.
If people don’t want to be sold to, why do they still buy?
It’s something we’ve all gone through as a buyer. Getting cars, furniture, homes, nearly everything.
Those things we pretty much need. The worst part is dealing with sellers that only care about what they get out of it.
It’s true people hate being sold to, I think everyone hates it. But people still buy because they want to spend money and buy whatever.
The way you sell something means everything to if that person will buy from you, or not.
People are willing to sell themselves. They are willing to buy anything they want, but hesitate when it comes to bad sellers.
So how do you start winning?
I think we all love buying things, it’s fun. As for owners of a business, it can be a gold mine, or a never ending storm.
If you want to make a gold mine, you have to listen to what people want. Not start shoving needless information and things they don’t care about down their throats.
We need to sell on the solution your product or service offers. People want to know the end result and what it will do to solve their problems.
If we go back to the back massager example, People don’t care about the features it has or any of its gimmicks.
People want to know if it will relieve their back pain or not. Having a remote control won’t solve back pain, sadly.
If you want to succeed, you need to stop selling to people, and give them a reason to buy instead.
People love spending money, give them a reason to use it and hand it to you.
It goes back to an earlier point. Don’t worry about money only, you’ll turn into those down your throat sellers and we don’t want that.
Only worry about selling a problem and giving people what they want. Once you do business with that mindset, you begin to shine over everyone else.
